14th Annual Trenton Small Business Week to Feature Remarks by Wachovia Regional President, Annual Mayor’s Awards to Outstanding Entrepreneurs
The 14th Trenton Small Business Week (TSBW) program will take place October 15-19, with a week’s worth of substantive seminars and three annual awards recognizing the best in Trenton business, the TSBW committee announced today.
In addition to the annual small business awards presented by Mayor Douglas H. Palmer, the committee said, a featured speaker will be Susanne Svizeny, Regional Banking President, Wachovia Bank. “She will share her passion about Trenton, including how the capital city’s many attributes contributed to Wachovia’s decision to relocate its regional headquarters to the capital city,” said Sasa Montaño, the City’s Acting Director of Housing and Economic Development.
Trenton Small Business Week is presented by the City of Trenton, the County of Mercer, and the program’s many sponsors and business partners. Under the 2007 theme of “Connecting Businesses in the Capital Region,” the program is a weeklong celebration of activities for businesses, entrepreneurs, and individuals starting or changing careers.
Each year during Trenton Small Business Week, Mayor Palmer honors Trenton businesses in three categories – Small Business of the Year, Most Improved Appearance and Most Successful New Business. Members of the business community have the opportunity to nominate deserving businesses through September 21, 2007, using the TSBW website at www.smallbizweek.com.
Following the open nomination period, the awards committee will evaluate all entries and choose the top three businesses in each category. Mayor Palmer will present the awards at the Small Business Week Opening Kick-Off Breakfast on Monday, October 15th at the Trenton Marriott at Lafayette Yard.
“More than 30,000 business owners and entrepreneurs have benefited throughout the years from the activities of this annual networking and information sharing event,” Mayor Palmer said. “This week has always been a highlight within my administration – and the 2007 program promises to continue building on that tradition.”
Special events scheduled for the week also include the monthly luncheon of the Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce (MRCC) on Tuesday, October 16 and its Expo on Wednesday, October 17. In addition, the Renaissance Ball of Trenton is being hosted on Friday, October 19th at the Marriott. Proceeds of this event will benefit the Old Barracks and the Arts and Business Council of the MRCC.
